Advent 2022: Hawker information in short

UK information in short: Younger environmental creator wins Diana Award

As its internet link has expired, we introduce our news this year by reproducing in full below an article we found online. Ignoring Boris Johnson's resignation that day, Daily News Asia (via the Church Times) reported the following.

"A 15-YEAR-OLD, Jamie Hawker, who wrote Altering the Local weather: Making use of the Bible in a local weather emergency (Bible Studying Fellowship, 2021), has been introduced the Diana Award for his environmental work. The award, which recognises the humanitarian efforts of younger folks, is made by the charity of the identical identify, supported by the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex. The ebook, which Mr Hawker wrote together with his dad and mom, Debbie and David Hawker, throughout lockdown, consists of greater than 130 methods through which to take care of creation."

If you're wondering what this was really about, click here to read the original source article. Inspired, we have tried running the rest of our news through google translate as well.

See Jamie at the Diana award ceremony here at 18:35 and 39:55 (bottom left).

Church bolts unbolted

In March Our sanctity in our church was interrupted by the loud voices of what we thought were balloon children below. It turns out to be Dave's stolen bike. Thieves use bicycles, By removing the D-lock and the metal bracket (attached to the temple), the chains with the chain are removed.

(That's enough google translate. Try tabloid - Ed..).

Eco Warriors Burn Gas in Heatwave

Hypocritical Hawkers REFUSED to replace their failing gas boiler with a heat pump. The self-promoting authors claimed they use so little heating it would barely reduce their carbon footprint and possibly even increase it! The new boiler was supposed to be more efficient, but the family proceeded to run it for half an hour daily for TWO WEEKS through the summer heatwave, allegedly following advice to flush the system! Mr Hawker says he plans to install solar panels, but there's no sign of them yet.

Tourists hide status

Asked on arrival by train to Barcelona whether they were Ukranian refugees, no-fly Hawkers took it as a cue to continue pretending, despite dilligently wearing rucksacks on their chests.

The IMPOSTERS joined a march for Ukraine and sought out suburban Good Friday and Easter parades and an empty music museum. They even avoided queues and fees at La Sagrada Familia by entering for prayer and worship. It helps to be part of the family!

Extreme 6th form competition

A Derbyshire teenager wrote in a sixth form application about coleading a communion service at Greenbelt, for 90 minutes up a ladder in front of ten thousand people. The 15-year-old worries he won't get an offer because other applicants might have spoken in front of twenty thousand!

Compassion empties public meeting

And now a quote from the Derby Telegraph: 'Residents of a Derbyshire town said they do not feel safe on the streets after they were told in a hot-tempered meeting that around 400 asylum seekers are currently living there...However, deep into the meeting when a resident suggested a way of helping the asylum seekers by “arranging English classes”, all of the residents then suddenly left the meeting.'

[Actually the meeting had just been told it was the last question before the parish council had to get on with the rest of its agenda - Ed.]

We've been working with Upbeat Communities in Derby to support refugees and asylum seekers. If you'd like to do that too, any donations given to them by 6th December will be doubled. Click here to give.

Conservatory offered to first floor flat

After living in a community for 35 years since university, Debbie’s sister Heather moved into her own flat for the first time. Jamaican-born Heather is doing well despite the big change, but was surprised to receive a leaflet through her first-floor letterbox offering to install a conservatory!

One step beyond DofE

After three years of planning, Dave and Jamie ABANDONED a wild camping expedition to the Highlands after just two nights sleeping at high altitudes in chilling winds and driving rain. Dave says he feared an airlift to Inverness A&E and was lucky to get off with an injured knee, but may have had covid all the time...

There is room for you

Even if you're not wild camping this winter - this is from the Methodist Church:

"Perhaps you have sometimes felt on the edges...are not religious...are struggling with the cost of living or see people close to you struggle and wish things were different...are young and sometimes feel patronised...are older and sometimes feel ignored.

The Bethlehem stable has room for all people, including you...God wants all of us to take our place and receive love, wholeness and peace."

That personal news in full

We've had some health referrals but are thankful for NHS treatment and are doing better now. We're also thankful for plenty to do, and visits to family and friends this year. We hope that you are also well, and that you enjoy this season.

Love from Debbie, Dave and Jamie Hawker.
